How to Test Table Cards Before Service
Conducting a pre-shift hardware walkthrough to verify NFC tap sensitivity, QR codes, and table routing.
Steps
Walk the dining floor with a smartphone
Before opening the restaurant for shift, take an unlocked smartphone to the dining room.
Ensure your phone has cellular data or is connected to the restaurant’s guest Wi-Fi.
Perform a test tap on each card
Touch the phone to the NFC card on Table 1, Table 2, etc.
Verify that the notification banner appears promptly (within 1 second) and opens the corresponding table label.
Verify table label accuracy
Ensure the opened menu displays the exact table you are standing at.
If Table 4 displays "Table 5", update the card assignment in Dashboard → Cards immediately.
Check physical condition and QR legibility
Inspect cards for physical damage, spills, or scratches over the QR graphic.
Wipe clean with a damp microfiber cloth. If a card is badly scratched, replace it using the replacement procedure.
